Lessons Learned

I learned a few lessons this weekend during my trip to the vineyard. I'd like to discuss a few.

First..........
The sun is very hot. Very Very Hot. Currently...I am sporting a lovely blister/scab thing on my forehead due to my inability to remember to put on sunscreen until it is too late. I'm constantly reminding the Hubby to put it on...as his nearly pigmentless Irish skin is very adverse to any sun what-so-ever. Yet when it comes to me...I'm just not as ruthless. Maybe it's time to start. I'm feeling awful silly with this thing on my head.

Second.......
When the hot sun (very hot sun) is shining and you are riding in a Jeep Wrangler (without the top on) do not forget that there is no roof to shield you from the sun. Yes...you are in a car....but it's just not the same. I made this mistake. Lesson number two...combined with lesson number one equaled painful...now itchy...skin.

Third.....
Though it may be fun at the moment....it is probably not a good idea to start drinking one night...take a nap...and immediately start drinking again and for the rest of the day. If you can sustain drinking for this almost 24 hour period....it is probable that you will feel the after effects for days. I'm not saying that you should not do this...but just be aware that it's going to hurt afterward. As long as you are ready for the pain...it's worth it.

Fourth (and Final).....
Drinking all day Saturday.....and eating junk food all day (to "sop" up the booze) Sunday..... just won't make you feel good about yourself...especially if you've been dieting. However...there's no reason to feel bad about the approximately half of a loaf of Strawberry Breakfast Bread that you ate while drinking on Saturday. Not only was that necessary...but it was delicious.

Great Weekend. Starting running again tomorrow and not looking at wine at least until Sunday....
